About This Quote

A Tale of Two Women is a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, written in 1835. It tells of the doomed love of two women, one married and the other single. Their love for each other is so great that they only wish to see each other, but their lives are too busy to make time for each other. The poem ends with the servant dying of grief after losing her mistress, who had died before she could see her again.
